Kelsie Swisher

Kelsie currently practices at Cedar Valley Mental Wellness as a psychiatric nurse practitioner. Kelsie received her BSN, ARNP, and post-master’s certificates from Allen College. She has previous nursing experience at the Allen ER for 7 years and then as a psychiatric nurse practitioner at Black Grundy Mental Health Center for 6 years. While at the community mental health center she was the site lead, operated the injection clinic and maintained a diverse and challenging array of patients. She currently sees patients as young as age five. Kelsie lives in Denver, Iowa with her husband, Michael and her son, Graham. She enjoys spending time with family, golfing, exercising, and reading.

Megan Heise

Megan currently practices at Cedar Valley Mental Wellness as a psychiatric nurse practitioner. She received her education from Allen College. Her previous experience included caring for community mental health patients at Black Hawk Grundy Mental Health Center and at the Allen Hospital Walk-in Clinic for the last two years. She has 14 years of previous nursing experience in pain management, surgery, and emergency services. While Megan currently sees patients of all ages, she enjoys working with children and adolescents. Megan lives in rural Reinbeck with her husband and four children—Nattalee, Mason, Dayton and Bentley. She enjoys trail running, endurance events, backpacking, hunting, and spending time with her highly active family.

Carly Pollock

Carly comes to CVMW after working as a school-based therapist with Black Hawk-Grundy Mental Health Center in the Waterloo Community School District. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Creighton University and her Master’s degree at Upper Iowa University. Prior to being a therapist, she spent several years working with non-profit agencies in the public relations field. She enjoys being a part of her community and supporting local schools and businesses and for the last six years has been on the Butler County Community Foundation Board. Carly keeps busy with her three kids and can often be seen attending a sporting event, as her husband is the head coach for two high school sports. Carly will see ages 5 and up and works using a collaborative, person-centered approach, while incorporating techniques like CBT, play, Theraplay and others to assist with each clients’ unique needs.

Mandy Gidley

Mandy is a Licensed Independent Social Worker who specializes in providing therapy to children and adolescents. She is trained in a wide variety of therapy techniques for treating trauma, anxiety, depression, low self esteem, and self-harm behaviors, among many other mental health issues. These techniques include play therapy, Trauma Focused CBT, CBT, DBT, EMDR, and many others. She is also a certified trainer of QPR, which teaches people how to intervene when someone may be suicidal.
Mandy is passionate about raising awareness of mental health issues and helping kids feel better so they can enjoy their childhood. An important part of this process is the involvement of parents, and Mandy works together with parents to achieve the best results for their kids.

Judy Owen

Judy Owen is from Waterloo Iowa and has lived in Waterloo most of her life. She and her husband Todd have been married for almost 40 years. They have one daughter and son-in-law and 2 grandchildren. Judy has been a CMA for 15 years and has worked in mental health for 9 years. She has a passion for working in mental health and connecting with patients. In her off time, Judy enjoys cuddling with her mini-Aussie, going to craft shows with her close friends, sitting around bonfires, gardening and spending time with family and friends.

Kourtney Brooks

Kourtney Brooks from Burlington, IA. She’s currently working towards getting her bachelors in Social Work and Master’s in Crisis Trauma Counseling. Her goal after school is to help people to reach their full potential and to know they are overcomers. She has a passion to see people develop goals and tools to not allow their past to define them. Besides working on school, she loves spending time with her husband and her two spoiled dogs. Kourtney and her husband love kayaking and fishing. Kourtney is always looking for new spots to fish, so don’t be afraid to share!

Kristen Reichert

Kristen comes to CVMW after 11 years as a mental health, School Social Worker in both Minnesota and Iowa. She received her BA/BSW from Loras College, and her MSW from the University of Northern Iowa. Kristen worked in Adult Residential & Community Mental Health, and a DBT clinic in St. Paul, MN prior to working in schools. Kristen has experience with trauma-informed and culturally responsive mental health practices. She also uses an integrated therapeutic approach that focuses on each individual’s unique strengths and needs. Kristen is trained in Conscious Discipline, a brain-based approach for both children and parents. She also has extensive experience working with Neurodiverse children. Kristen’s passion is Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health and Parent Education.

Kristen currently lives in Grundy Center with her husband and 3 children. She serves as a member of the Grundy County Community Foundation, the Kling Memorial Library Board, the Dollars for Scholars committee, and is a member of the Grundy County Wellness Committee.  When not busy with children’s activities or volunteering, Kristen enjoys running, yoga, reading and being outdoors.
